RIGA - Latvia and Canada might introduce a visa-free regime in the coming two years, Latvia's ambassador to Canada Atis Sjanits said.
"A visa-free regime might be introduced in the close future," said Sjanits, adding that it might happen in a year or two.
Sjanits also said that a similar arrangement with the United States could follow soon after.
He said that last year the number of rejected visas for Latvia reached 7 percent. At the beginning of this year the number dropped to 3 percent, which was the necessary requirement to proceed with the visa-free arrangement with Canada. It is important to keep it to that level, he said.
