VILNIUS - Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus has completed his working visit in the United States and is leaving on Friday [Sept. 22] for China for an official six-day trip that will include visits to Beijing and Shanghai.
This is the first visit to China by a Lithuanian president since 1993.
Adamkus' agenda in China will include meetings with President Hu Jintao, Chairman of the National People's Congress Wu Bangguo and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, the presidential press service said.
According to the press release, the meetings with the top leaders of China should address prospects of bilateral relations, opportunities of strengthening economic relations, Lithuanian and Chinese regional cooperation, the European Union's (EU) cooperation with China and the Asian continent, as well as topical issues of the international agenda.
