TALLINN - Filling out the names of candidates for Estonian presidential elections in the electoral college ended on Sept. 21.
According to the National Electoral Committee, the only candidate nominated for Saturday's first round of voting is incumbent President Arnold Ruutel.
The first round of voting will start in the Estonia concert hall at noon on Saturday.
The other name on the ballot to be handed out to electors on Saturday is that of Socialist MEP Toomas Hendrik Ilves, the sole candidate in the final round of the parliamentary vote in August, who automatically passed to the electoral college round.
The parliament failed to gather a two-thirds majority of votes behind any candidate in three rounds of voting, after which election of the president became the task of a specially formed body made up of MPs and local government representatives.
