RIGA - Following an invitation from the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will deploy a Limited Election Observation Mission to observe the 9th Saeima (Latvian Parliament) elections. Taking into account the general trust in the election process and the OSCE conclusions on the compliance of the previous parliamentary elections with democratic electoral process, and with OSCE and international obligations, the parliamentary elections in Latvia will be monitored at a limited scale.
It is noteworthy that Latvia has taken an active part in OSCE election observation missions deployed to monitor elections in the OSCE member states of Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, and in a number of Balkan countries.
