RIGA - The Navy Coast Guard Service has stopped searching for a Lithuanian man fell overboard the Regina Baltica ferry on Aug. 30.
The search began around 8.p.m. on Aug. 30 and lasted for 14 hours. It was established that the 26-year-old man had fallen off Deck 8, which is 19 meters above sea level. The boat was travelling from Riga to Stockholm.
A coast guard spokeswoman said that the Baltic Sea's temperature of 16 degrees Celsius, would allow a survival time of 7-12 hours. The mission was also terminated in view of very bad weather conditions at sea.
