RIGA - A man suspected of a large-scale robbery has pulled off a textbook escape - by sawing through the bars on his cell window and climbing down a rope of sheets.
Police said the man escaped from a mental hospital in Riga on August 28.
At around 5 am police were alerted to the escape of Bogdans Koncevics, 26, who had been sent to the hospital for mental assessment.
He had been transferred from the Riga Central Prison to the Mental Health Agency hospital.
#It is quite possible that he had enough time to plan the escape, which turned out to be not very difficult,# police spokeswoman Ieva Reksna told LNT commercial television.
