TALLINN DRESSAGE SHOW
Aug. 11 's 13 's We often assume horse training shows are the stuff of rich countries, like England, France or the People's Republic of Taxachussetts, but the international horse-training competition Tallinn Dressage Show will be the first of its kind to be held in the Baltic states. Think of it as a dog show with really big dogs that you can sit on. Riders from Estonia, Latvia, Russia and Finland are set to compete at the Veskimetsa Riding Center in Tallinn.

RIGA CITY FESTIVAL
Aug. 17 's 19 's Riga may look like it's 300 years old, but the old girl actually turns 805 this month. So in honor of its birthday, the city will see a brass marching band, street concerts, a car show, a circus, a classical music concert and fireworks. If it survives all that, it may be able to celebrate its 806th birthday next year.

DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN
Aug. 9 's 26 's Lithuanians may not necessarily need anything to help them be even more sexist, but this one-man show, "Defending the Caveman," which became a huge middlebrow sensation in the United States and premiered in the Baltic country in January 2005, may help them out anyway. "Caveman," with its brilliant commentary on the neverending war between the sexes has been staged in more than 30 countries around the world. The show was exceedingly popular during its 2005 Baltic debut, so get your tickets early, because they will certainly sell out.
