Latvian President meets Queen Elizabeth II

RIGA - Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga met with Great Britain's Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday [June 13].
After the audience, which lasted about 30 minutes, the Latvian president told the press that the British monarch inquired about her visit to Great Britain and expressed satisfaction about the busy schedule of Vike-Freiberga's visit. The Queen also expressed her excitement about the forthcoming visit to Latvia.
Latvian President said that Elizabeth II was in high spirits during the audience and praised Riga's architecture she had learned about from a book that the Latvian leader had presented to her.
"I am glad that we have renewed and stabilized contacts between the two countries," the Latvian president said, concluding that her visit to Great Britain was a success.
