UNESCO leader to visit Latvia

RIGA - Francesco Bandarin, head of the UNESCO World Heritage Center, is scheduled to arrive in Riga July 17 for a two-day visit.
During his stay, Bandarin will meet with representatives of UNESCO in Latvia, the Latvian Culture Ministry and the State Inspectorate for Heritage Protection. He will also travel to important cultural heritage sites in Latvia.
The State Inspectorate for Heritage Protection that Bandarin was expected to visit a baroque palace in Rundale, central Latvia, where he will meet with the palace's manager, Imants Lancmanis, and with Juris Dambis, director of the State Inspectorate for Heritage Protection.
Bandarin is also scheduled to meet with Riga mayor Aivars Aksenoks.
