Vilnius celebrates Grand Duke Algirdas

VILNIUS - Two Guard of Honor servicemen, dressed in clothes from the period of Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas -- 14th century 's stood on guard before Lithuania's national and historical flags in Vilnius for the first time.
During a solemn ceremony held at Daukantas Square on July 6, the occasion of the Day of Statehood or the coronation of King Mindaugas, two servicemen stood on both sides of the historical red flag with Vytis.
Three rounds were shot in honor of King Mindaugas, Lithuania and Vilnius from a 18th century cannon by members of Kaunas' War History Museum.
After the rounds were shot and the Guard of Honor initiated its demonstrative program, three Turkish Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters, currently performing NATO's air policing mission in the Baltic states, flew above the President's Office.
The celebration was attended by several dozens of people.
