All this month, Lithuania and particularly Vilnius have been enjoying Italian atmosphere. For the first time in the Baltic country, an Italian Festival was held in June.

This traditional campaign organised yearly in many countries (this year over 25) worldwide is devoted to promote the Italian life style and support Italian products in local markets. The Italian June Festival lasts for about one month and includes different events targeted at promoting Italian products and strengthening international business cooperation.

This edition of the Italian June Festival in Lithuania is organized by ICE (Istituto nazionale per il Commercio Estero 's Italian Institute for Foreign Trade), the Italian Embassy and the Ministry for International Trade, in cooperation with Lazio region and the region's development agency Sviluppo Lazio.

'In Latvia, the Italian Festival has been successfully held for four years already, and for two years 's in Estonia', says ICE Director Deputy in the Baltic states Dr. Giancarlo Albano. He says the project aims to present Italian products to as wide an audience as possible. In Lithuania, this initiative has been supported by over 30 companies (many of them owned by local businessmen, by the way), which all throughout June offered special discounts on a wide range of Italian products 's from coffee and wine to clothing, interior accessories and even Iveco trucks.

Italian June Festival alsohad quite an intensive cultural program. 'With these events we wanted to present cultural Italy at its best: design, fashion, music and cuisine', says Mr. Albano. The famous yard of Alumnatas was busy with fashion show. Besides, an exceptionally interesting exhibition called Lazio Life Style 's Italian Design was available for visitors in the City Hall. Design lovers will find the best of Italian design 's interior accessories and furniture awarded with world's famous Compasso d'Oro for the best industrial design.

And on the 29th, for the closing of the Festival, the yard of Alumnatas will be welcoming everyone who loves Italian life style, for the final concert. A Latvian based Italian duet, Elizabeth and Roberto, will be singing all the famous Italian songs loved by the young and the old. To make the happiness complete, the organizers will offer some Italian wine, Ferrerro confectionary and games with intriguing prizes.
