VILNIUS - Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus, continuing an official visit to Azerbaijan, has urged to develop business relations between the two countries more actively.
Adamkus attended a Lithuanian-Azerbaijani business forum in Baku on Friday [June 9]. President noted that the turnover of trade between Lithuania and Azerbaijan currently made up only some 12 million euros, stressing that business relations between the countries could be much more intensive, BNS reported.
"This is determined by geographical distances, too short history of economic relations, and poor experience in developing business ties. Therefore, such business forums are as important as diplomatic cooperation between the countries," the president said.
The Lithuanian leader invited Azerbaijani businessmen to invest in Lithuania more actively. "Our country has created favorable conditions and a firm legal base for investments. If we miss the good opportunity to develop business relations today, we will be able to blame only ourselves in the future," Adamkus said.
