Latvian Foreign Minister Artis Pabriks sent a letter on May 15 to all Latvian universities asking them to enroll Belarusian students who had been prohibited from pursuing their educations in their home country due to their beliefs.
Since the Belarusian presidential elections on March 19, authorities in the country had expelled many students from universities, the ministry said. The students had been required to attend political events.
