VILNIUS - A 44-year-old woman from Telsiai, western Lithuania, gave birth to her 18th child, a miracle doctors said they do not see often.
According to Lithuanian daily newspaper Lietuvos Zinios, Danute Bagociene was highly concerned over her 18th pregnancy and feared it would be difficult for her and the baby.
Nevertheless, the baby boy weighted 3.7 kilograms at birth and was heavier than Bagociene's other newborns.
Bagociene has given birth to seven sons and 11 daughters. Her oldest son Irinijus is now 28.
She does not plan on having more children. In her words, living in the country is difficult enough because the family owns a house and runs a big farm.
Bagociene is unique not only for giving birth to a healthy child at the age of 44 but also for having two grandchildren aged six years and several months.
A large family is an ordinary environment for Bagociene - she was raised in a family of nine children and her husband came from a family of seven children.
