Leonids Beresnevs is no longer an assistant coach of Latvian National Team

Leonids Beresnevs, The Latvian National Ice Hockey team's assistant coach has been fired, Sportnews.Lv reported on April 30.


According to "sportsnews.lv", Valeriy Shapochnikov will replace Beresnevs. The Latvian team's head coach Pyotr Vorobjov has worked with Shapochnikov at the Tolyatti "Lada" club in the Russian Super League.

Several mass media sources reported earlier that a few ice hockey players refused to play for the national team during World Championships because Beresnevs had been approved as assistant coach.
