Dutch monarch to grace Riga

RIGA - On May 22, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands will grace Latvia with her royal presence. The Dutch monarch was invited by President Vaira Vike-Freiberga, and will spend two days in Riga on an official state visit. Extremely popular in her home country, Queen Beatrix succeeded her mother as Queen of the Netherlands in 1980. Since then the queen has represented her country at home and abroad, making several state visits every year.
