For those of you used to pig- and corn-growing contests back in your home countries, the Maamess (Country Fair) 2006, the best known country fair in the Baltics, may be a good way to experience all that Estonian-style. Maamess will offer a wood-chopping contest as well as an array of homegrown Estonian farm food, vegetables and meat.
It may be an ideal way to see a side to the country very few foreigners ever get to: the good old countryside. The fair will be held from April 20-22 at Tartu Exhibition Hall, Kreutzwaldi 60.
