Out of town: EASTER IN RUMSISKES

  • 2006-04-12
Mon 17 's It may be a matter of old pagan ritual that Easter, the day we celebrate Christ's rising from the dead, happens to coincide with the celebration of spring holidays. And Lithuanians, like everyone else, celebrate the holiday with Easter eggs, or what they call marguciai. Even today, Easter eggs are either engraved with a sharp tool or painted with beeswax.
Everyone is invited to the Lithuanian Open-air Ethnographical Museum in Rumsiskes to enjoy the holiday. There will be egg rolling, horse riding and a concert from several different folk groups.
