Gailis leaves Latvia's Way

RIGA 's Former Prime Minister Maris Gailis has announced his intention to leave Latvia's Way after party members castigated him for donating funds to the People's Party, a right-wing party in the government coalition.
Gailis told the Baltic News Service that informed leaders of Latvia's Way, which is not represented in Parliament, that he was nullifying his membership.
"I am leaving to be able to donate money to whoever I want," Gailis was quoted as saying.
Recently Latvia's Way, a liberal party, merged with Latvia's First Party, a centrist faction that is part of the four-member ruling coalition in the Baltic states.
