TALLINN - Estonia is split on whether current president Arnold Ruutel should run for a second term, the daily Eesti Paeveleht reported.
A poll carried out in February among 1,200 people revealed that 49 percent of Estonians hoped Ruutel would run for another term, while another 49 percent found he should not.
"The equal number of Ruutel's supporters and opponents shows that, although the people consider Ruutel to be the most suitable candidate, a new candidate would have a strong backing," Tonu Ormisson from the Turu-uuringute pollster said.
