TALLINN - The Finnish Dornier aircraft detected a major spill 16 kilometers northwest of the Juminda peninsula, and also discovered a life vest, spokespeople for the Border Guard Board said. The second slick was detected nine kilometers north of Keri Island.
The Environment Inspectorate will further investigate the spill.
On March 6, a Dominica-flagged cargo ship, the Runner 4, sank in Estonia's territorial waters in the Gulf of Finland. A drifting oil slick was detected near the site of the accident.
