RIGA - The Latvian Supreme Court Senate has postponed Russian exile Boris Berezovksy's hearing 's over his blacklisting in Latvia - until April 21. The court decided on Jan. 27 to summon Latvia's former interior minister Eriks Jekabsons.
Berezovsky's lawyer, Lauris Liepa, said that before the Latvian National Security Council meeting in October last year, which was followed by the decision to include Berezovsky on the list of personas non grata, Jekabsons said he did not have information about Berezovsky posing a threat to national security.
Yet, the decision about blacklisting Berezovsky, which was signed by Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis as the acting interior minister after Jekabsons' resignation, has been based on recommendations by security agencies.
The court decided to summon Jekabsons to clarify this contradiction.
