Latvians go wild with Visa cards

RIGA - Latvians used their Visa cards to make a total 355.2 million lats (505.4 million euros) worth of payments over 12 months starting from Sept. 30, 2004, a growth of 84.1 percent year-on-year. Statistics from Visa Europe show that during the period Latvian residents used their Visa cards to make payments at points of sale (shops, restaurants, gas filling stations, etc.) 28.5 million times, up 78 percent from the previous financial year. In Europe the number of Visa card transaction increased 16.1 percent in average. In Lithuania the growth was 40.1 percent and in Estonia 70.1 percent. E...
