A CENTURY OF THEATER

The exhibition "Year of Estonian Theater" is divided in two parts: academic and theatrical. In one hall, pictures and stories document a timeline of theater, while the museum's balcony comes alive with stage magic. For the first time, the museum will exhibit actual artifacts from Estonian productions. But this show is not just for adults, in fact children may have more fun with a host of theater games. The exhibition will be held at Rotermann's Salt Storage until Feb. 26.

ALPENROSE

Alpenrose is one of Riga's oldest restaurants - imbued with Swiss ambiance and a dose of Latvian design. The restaurant carries a country-inn feel, with its requisite cowbells and Swiss-German music. After a good hour there, you'll forget the place is dab in the center of Riga. The mouthwatering menu includes the likes of meat-filled hot apples, pickled veal and, most delightfully of all, a range of fondues, from classic Swiss cheese fondue to sweet-pepper fondue. Although the restaurant is a bit pricey, it's worth the money.

FERRUM FROST 2006

On Jan. 28, the hard-rock music festival Ferrum Frost will hit Vilnius for the fourth time. Popular Lithuanian metal bands such as Dark Ravage, Mandragora, Thundertale and more will take part during this event. And a special guest, whose name hasn't been revealed yet, will also show up on stage. If you're a metal music fan, or just bored-sick of this Estonian winter, then Feruum Frost festival is the right place to be.
