RIGA - Six Latvian soldiers, all experts in the neutralization of unexploded ordnance, are returning home from a mission in Afghanistan on Thursday.

No special welcoming ceremony is currently planned, National Armed Forces spokesman Normunds Virsnieks said, although the army commander plans to congratulate all returning Latvian soldiers in late January.

The Latvian sappers had served on the NATO International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the 3rd combat group lead by Norway since October last year. They were stationed in Kabul.
