VILNIUS - Interior Minister Gintaras Furmanavicius has nominated Police Commissioner General Vytautas Grigaravicius for another five-year tenure, the Baltic News Service reported.
"Under the procedures stipulated in the Law on Police Activities, I suggested that the government should propose the president to appoint Vytautas Grigaravicius for the second five-year term in office," Furmanavicius said during a meeting of Parliament's committee on legal affairs.
After meeting with Grigaravicius last week, President Valdas Adamkus said he saw no reason why the current police-force director shouldn't continue his work.
Grigaravicius has expressed interest in the offer.
