Prosecutors close Crowne Plaza case

VILNIUS - Vilnius prosecutors announced that the have closed their investigation into the privatization of Crowne Plaza Hotel, which has been at the center of a controversial storm.

Investigators wrote in a press release that they found no breaches of laws during the privatization of the hotel, which was at the time known as the Draugyste.

The Crowne Plaze Hotel is owned by Kristine Brazauskiene, the wife of Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas, though at the time of the sell-off the two were not married.

The conservative opposition tried to use the hotel privatization to discredit Brazauskas, forcing President Valdas Adamkus to call for an official inquiry.
