RIGA- Former leader of the People's Harmony Party and independent member of Parliament Janis Jurkans stated that he would not participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Instead, he said he intended to finish his 17 year-long politic career. "I don't see a place for myself in the parties of the present ruling coalition," Jurkans told BNS. "The ruling parties have led the state into a miserable economic situation and a horrible situation in social sphere and that is totally unacceptable for me," he added.
The MP also proposed that, after his term expires in Parliament, he could turn to political analysis or become a university lecturer.
