Putin advisor says Russia will never apologize

RIGA 's Modest Kolerov, an adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin on regional relations, told an audience at a debate in Riga that the two countries had diametrically opposite views on history and that Russia would never apologize for the occupation.

"It isn't fair to demand another apology and an act of repentance where we already did it once. If you stick to this, you might just as well burn down all material values created in post-Soviet countries during the Soviet period," he was quoted by the Baltic News Service as saying.

Still, Kolerov said that despite the differences, he saw no obstacles to solving issues facing the two countries.
