TALLINN 's A representative of the Association of Turkic and Caucasian Peoples of Europe has reconfirmed its intention of erecting a monument to the Azeri ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva in the Estonian capital.

Jagub Jagobov said that the association would not back out of its project proposal and would erect the monument to Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, whose name has been given to the University of Eastern Nations.

He responded to critics of a monument to the Azeri eye doctor by saying that there are many monuments in Estonia to people who had never visited the country. He said that Aliyeva was an important person for the roughly 2,000 Azeri residents of Estonia.
