The lost language used in "The Passion of the Christ" certainly didn't pose a problem for director Mel Gibson, and perhaps this is one of the reasons his next movie will be performed in another lost language.
"Apocalypto," a historic drama based in Mexico almost 3,000 years ago will have the cast speaking a Mayan dialect. Gibson himself is not expected to appear in the film, that will be distributed in the U.S.A. by Disney. The film is scheduled to debut in mid-2006. Gibson's previous lost-language film "The Passion of the Christ," which grossed almost $600 million worldwide, is the most successful independent film ever made.
