The Auseklis Theater in Limbazi is one of the oldest amateur theaters in Latvia. It was started in 1884 and has been an active organization in the community throughout the years, putting on two or three shows each year.

They perform about 40 shows each season in different cities and villages throughout the country and has earned the reputation of being one of the best amateur troupes in the Baltics. Since 1997, Auseklis Theatre has been participating in international festivals in Belgium, Estonia, Lithuania, Denmark, and Iceland. The troupe takes part in all the major events in town and hosts the "Joy of Acting" International Amateur Theater Festival each year. During the festival, churches, abandoned factories, cellars, town squares, castle ruins and other extraordinary locations are used as stages for amateur troupes from around the world.
