RIGA - After months of preparation, Limbazi is finally ready to celebrate its 782nd anniversary. The two-day event kicks off on Friday, August 5 and for two days.
The fun will begin on Friday evening with a strong man show, where burly men from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will compete for the Limbazi Cup. The celebration will continue with the "Song Duel", which will gather many locals and visitors hoping to show off their singing skills. The event promises to be very entertaining, relaxing and enjoyable.

For early birds, the second day of festivities kicks off with a fishing derby that starts at 4 a.m. at Lielezers. The winner will get a prize, but the xact nature of the prize is a well-kept secret that will be revealed only on the day of the contest. If, however, you are indifferent to fishing and prefer to sleep in, you can take part in beach volleyball, basketball or paddling and rowing competitions later in the day.

The streets of Limbazi will not be as quiet and calm as they usually are - workshops, trade fairs, concerts and various exhibitions are set to take place all day long. Next to the Limbazi Museum medieval festivities with knights, circus acts, a petting zoo, entertaining theater performances and activities for children and adults will be sure to delight and entertain. And if you get hungry, you can restore your energy with a taste of medieval soup made from an ancient recipe.

The Limbazu Cultural Center will continue celebrations with performances by some of Latvia's most popular bands on the 6th and at midnight, colorful fireworks will conclude the two-day celebration.

Limbazi would be a great destination for some weekend fun on August 5-6. Whether you are a strong man, like fishing at the crack of dawn, are a history-buff or simply enjoy watching high quality sporting events, Limbazi's 782nd anniversary will offer something for almost everyone.
