VILNIUS 'sPresident Valdas Adamkus said that despite tense relations with Russia, Lithuania was pursuing the right policy.

"In terms of a formal and top-level relationship, I do not see any major changes. There is some tension - a certain dismal atmosphere that is probably obvious to everyone. But statements by individual politicians, especially members of the Duma, should not be the reason for any deterioration," Adamkus said at a press conference to mark the first anniversary of his second term in office on July 12.

"I think the foreign policy that we have adopted must be pursued further, with great emphasis. We will follow it, and it will most likely not lead us down a dead-end," Adamkus added.
