Top executives of TNK-BP, a top Russian company, met with Lithuania's leaders on Wednesday to discuss the possible purchase of a majority holding in Mazeikiu Nafta.

TNK-BP president Robert Dudley and executive director German Chan met with Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas and were scheduled to meet with President Valdas Adamkus in the afternoon.

Yukos, the embattled Russian oil company, currently controls 53.7 percent of Mazeikiu Nafta, the Baltics' only refinery, and is reportedly negotiating the sale of the stake to another producer that will be able to guarantee long-term supplies. Lukoil, Russia's largest oil producer, is rumored to be among the top possible buyers.
