VILNIUS 's Economy Minister Viktor Uspaskich told national television on Monday that if ad hoc parliamentary commissions ruled that he had been involved in a conflict of interests then he would resign both his ministerial post and parliamentary seat.

"If I am incriminated with something, I will step down, as I don't want to ruin a successful political force 's the Labor Party," Uspaskich said during the broadcast.

As many as three parliamentary commissions might be formed this week to ascertain whether Uspaskich, leader of the Labor Party, did not lobby the interests of a firm he has vested interests in.

Representatives of the Moscow Mayor's Office have reportedly claimed that Uspaskich, during his visit to Moscow last month, lobbied the interests of Krekenavos Agrofirma, a food processing company in which the minister has held a stake and may still have an interest in.
