TALLINN - Hugo Osula, owner of the bus companies Eurolines and Sebe, has created a new service that is vying for a large chunk of the Nordic bus-repair market.

Negotiations over the new unit, developed from Sebe's repair services, began last week with Swedish technical managers. According to the daily Postimees, the international carrier Connex has agreed to repair around 10 buses in Estonia.

"We wish to conclude at least one-year agreements with four Nordic bus companies to ensure stability in this new business area," Osula said.

A couple of years ago Sebe created globally standardized repair units at bases in Tallinn, Tartu, Voru and Narva. The firm reassembled 66 buses for Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Latvia and Russia, and generated a turnover of more than 16 million kroons (1 million euros).

The company has now signed a permanent agreement with Swebuss, the Swedish operator of city and intercity lines with a fleet of some 3,000 buses. In addition, an agreement with Norway's Netbus is currently being prepared.

"We're also considering to establish a repair company in St. Petersburg," Osula said.
