Amendments could restart trials

VILNIUS (BNS) - The Parliament's human rights committee has submitted amendments to the criminal process code that could open the way for renewing a number of war crimes trials that have been dismissed or delayed.Emanuelis Zingeris, chairman of the commission, said the amendments could be "applied to several hundreds suspected of carrying out mass extermination of people during the Soviet occupation and also to nine persons suspected of genocide during the Nazi occupation."The committee's adviser, Kestutis Cilinskas, said the draft amendments "will help to defend both the right of the victi...
