RIGA - The Defense Ministry on Monday accredited Poland's new Defense Attache to Latvia, Colonel Tadeusz Slomczewski, who has replaced Poland's previous Defense Attache to Latvia, Colonel Piotr Pomazany, LETA was told at the Defense Ministry.
Colonel Slomczewski has served at Poland's National Defense Ministry, as well as NATO's Force Command (JFC) Brunssum in the Netherlands.
Colonel Pomazany, who became Poland's Defense Attache to Latvia on April 26, 2018, today received the Latvian defense minister's award - the Medal of Honorary Recognition for his contribution to strengthening defense cooperation between Latvia and Poland.
According to the Defense Ministry, Latvia and Poland have very good cooperation as both countries are located in the same region and are dealing with the same challenges. Latvia highly values Poland's involvement in strengthening Baltic security. Over 170 Polish troops serve with NATO's enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia.
Latvia and Poland also closely cooperate in the area of military training.
