New player in the electricity market – Virši starts selling electricity to households

Expanding and diversifying the solutions available to Latvian inhabitants for purchasing electricity, energy commodities trader and convenience store network AS VIRŠI-A (hereinafter – Virši) introduces its electricity offer for households. It is based on competitive prices and special offers for the purchase of fuel and goods in the Virši network.

“The development of the energy segment will play an important role in the Company’s long-term strategic plan. We are confident that this business line has high potential to fully complement our already successful fuel and convenience store segments. Since 2021, we offer the possibility to purchase electricity to the corporate customer segment, while today we are very pleased to share the news that we are ready to offer the possibility to purchase electricity for the home to every private resident of Latvia. The next step in the development of the energy segment is the sale of natural gas, which we plan to launch in 2024,” says Jānis Vība, Chairman of the Board at Virši.

Virši is a new player entering the electricity market in the household segment with a strong brand and an experienced team, providing electricity consumers with a competitive offer and flexible cooperation conditions. Customers can choose from the usual fixed-price or dynamic product agreements for households, as well as one of the packages offered by Virši – combining electricity with better prices on fuel and in-store offers. The Great Package is for those who want to combine electricity with more favourable purchases but have low mileage, while the Mighty Package is best suited for active daily drivers.

“In the first years after the abolition of regulated prices in 2015, Latvian household activity in choosing an electricity trader was low, but over the last 24 months, unprecedented market prices have made almost all residents consider the most suitable trader. In response to the growing household activity and awareness of market developments, we have prepared a well-thought-out offer and an easy agreement process to meet the demand for both competitive electricity prices and related additional services that we can provide in our service station network,” says Jānis Bethers, Head of Energy Segment at Virši.

The Law provides that electricity traders can be switched once a month, before the 15th date of the month, to receive electricity from the new trader from the 1st date of the following month.
