VILNIUS – A new Olympic-size swimming pool in Vilnius' Lazdynai neighborhood was officially opened on Wednesday.
The new sports facility, built in place of a demolished old swimming pool, will be open to the public from 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Vilnius Municipality said.
The complex has a 50-meter Olympic-size swimming pool and a 25-meter diving pool, with 1,200 spectator seats.
It also has fitness, functional training, cafe, dressing and administration areas, as well as an open Jacuzzi with a diameter of five meters for visitors.
The Lazdynai swimming pool will initially operate without its spa and sauna areas, which are expected to be completed in about a year.
The sport complex can accommodate up to 700 visitors at a time.
The cost of the project is estimated to have risen to 35 million euros, from the initial budget of almost 22 million euros.
