RIGA - Minister of Health Daniels Pavluts (For Development) has issued an order stipulating that all medica will be vaccinated from January 11, Lasma Bindere, the Communications Adviser to the Minister of Health, informed LETA.
The vaccination process will also have to be organized on weekends and holidays, according to the order of the Minister.
Pavluts points out that so far staff of large hospitals have been vaccinated, today family doctors are starting to be vaccinated, but from Monday this option will be available to all medics - doctors, medical assistants, nurses, dentists, midwives and others.
"We will vaccinate everyone who is on the register of medical practitioners, both in public and private medical institutions," Pavluts added.
"A doctor who doesn't take the opportunity to get vaccinated is denying it to someone else who is looking forward to their vaccination round. We can't afford not to vaccinate those who want to get vaccinated," says Pavluts.
He admits that the opinion of the Latvian society about vaccination is a bit hesitant at the moment, and the good example of doctors is very much needed.
