New cadastral values on properties might be applied from 2021

RIGA – The new cadastral values on properties might be applied starting from 2021 instead of 2020 as planned earlier, said State Land Service general director Solvita Zvidrina at the Saeima housing affairs subcommittee meeting today.

The subcommittee discuss the new methodology for cadastral values. Zvidrina said that a possibility is being discussed to postpone application of the new values for another year – until 2021. All these matters are being discussed by representatives of the Finance Ministry, the Justice Ministry and the Latvian Associations of Local Governments.

Mass assessment will still be used to set the candastral value to ensure that it is as close to the market value as possible. Zoning might be revised, and the number of constraints from about 250 to 60.

Zvidrina underscored that all these matters are still being discussed.
