New board of Rigas Satiksme public transport company appointed

RIGA - The supervisory board of Rigas Satiksme municipal public transport company approved the new management board, based on the documents provided by the tender commission, LETA learned from the company.

The new management board will consist of Transport Ministry's deputy state secretary Dzineta Innusa, the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) board member Janis Golubevs, former Olainfarm board member and SEB Banka Baltic accounts and payments head Inga Krukle, and formerly appointed temporary board members Emils Jakrins and Elina Epalte-Drulle.

Rolands Klincis, the chairman of the company's supervisory council, said that the main focus has been put on ensuring uninterrupted operations of the company, quality management and risk management. The tender commission had considered professionalism, experience and competence criteria of the candidates.

As reported, 176 candidates applied for the vacant positions on the Rigas Satiksme management board and 69 of them made it to the second round of the tender. 

Human Source recruitment company was hired to pick the candidates for the transport company's management board. 

Rigas Satiksme was left without a management board after an investigation started by the Corruption Prevention Bureau (KNAB) uncovered serious violations in the company's procurement deals. 

As reported, the Corruption Prevention Bureau has started a criminal case on three procurement tenders organized by Rigas Satiksme: 2016 tender to buy low-floor trams for a total of EUR 62,597,477, 2013 tender to buy trolley-buses for a total of EUR 131,646,135, and one more 2013 tender to buy buses worth EUR 75,808,297. The criminal procedure investigates bribery and money laundering in relation to these procurement tenders.

The entire Rigas Satiksme management board resigned after the corruption scandal broke.
