Murniece embarks on visit to South Korea

RIGA - Saeima Speaker Inara Murniece (National Alliance) is today embarking on an official visit to South Korea, the parliamentary press office said. 

During the visit, which will last until January 12, Murniece will meet with Moon Hee-sang, Speaker of South Korea's National Assembly and Park Ji-Won, chair of the Latvia-South Korea parliamentary friendship group. 

The Saeima delegation will meet with South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and Gyeongju City Mayor Joo Nak-young. Murniece is also scheduled to visit the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies to meet with the university's president and participate in a discussion with academic staff and students. 

The Saeima speaker will be accompanied on her visit to South Korea by Rihards Kols (National Alliance), chairman of the Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee, Gatis Eglitis (New Conservative Party), vice-chairman of the European Affairs Committee and member of the parliamentary group for cooperation with South Korea, and Janis Vucans (Greens/Farmers), head of the Latvian delegation to the Baltic Assembly.
