RIGA - Riga Stages, a multifunctional film production facility, will be developed in Spilve, Riga, Ilze Samite, a representative of the Film Service Producers Association of Latvia, informed LETA.
On Tuesday, November 19, Economics Minister Viktors Valainis (Greens/Farmers), Riga Mayor Vilnis Kirsis (New Unity), Culture Minister Agnese Lace (Progressives) and Janis Kalejs, board member of the Film Service Producers Association of Latvia, will sign a cooperation memorandum to develop the new multimedia infrastructure services center.
Riga Stages is conceived as a multifunctional filming pavilion offering indoor shooting opportunities. The three hectares large complex in Spilve will include several studios, an underwater filming pool, an outdoor filming area, auxiliary facilities, warehouses, offices and a car park.
According to Samite, 53 foreign film projects have been completed in Latvia from 2017 to 2023, with funding of around EUR 55 million.
The representative of the Film Service Producers Association of Latvia indicated that a business plan for the film production facility and three possible funding models for the project have now been developed so far.
