RIGA - Riga Pardaugava Court today sentenced Saeima member Glorija Grevcova to 160 hours of community service for providing false information to the Central Election Commission during the 14th Saeima elections.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prosecutor Edijs Pastars demanded 200 hours of community service and a fine of EUR 6,200 for Grevcova

The prosecutor claimed that Grevcova had herself signed a form submitted to the Central Election Commission, which provided false information about her education and past work experience.

Grevcova continued to insist that she was not guilty of anything and that no wrongdoing on her part had been established.

As reported, the State Police launched a criminal case against the newly elected Saeima member Grevcova for providing false information about her job to the Central Election Commission.

Despite the accusations, Grevcova is able to continue work as the member of the parliament. A lawmaker is suspended from the duties only when a convicting court verdict comes into force.
