Minister Skuodis to discuss air connectivity and strategic projects with newly appointed Spanish counterpart

On Friday, the Lithuanian Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Marius Skuodis, will meet the Spanish Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Mr Óscar Puente Santiago, who is visiting Lithuania. The Ministers will discuss direct flights between Lithuania and Spain, the implementation of strategic transport infrastructure projects in the Baltic region and other topical items on the international agenda.

The Lithuanian and Spanish Transport Ministers will also discuss the progress of the Rail Baltica project, the region's military mobility needs and an ongoing rail electrification project. The meeting will also cover the need to increase European funding for projects that improve both civil and military mobility links with Europe and Ukraine.

This will be Mr Skuodis' first meeting with his Spanish counterpart, Mr Puente Santiago, who has been serving as Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility since November 2023. Mr Skuodis paid a working visit to Spain in September last year when Spain held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

To promote cooperation in the field of transport and logistics and to expand bilateral business relations, the Embassy of Spain in Lithuania and its partners organised the first Lithuanian-Spanish Business Forum in Vilnius on Wednesday.
