TALLINN – Delegations of the Estonian Trade Union Confederation and the Estonian Employers' Confederation met for the first time on Tuesday for talks on the minimum wage for 2025.
No concrete figures were discussed at the meeting, and the negotiations will resume on Oct. 9, spokespeople for the employers' confederation said.
The situation and prospects of the Estonian economy and labor market were discussed at the meeting, based on the latest forecast by the central bank. The parties also talked about how to continue moving towards the target set in the goodwill agreement on the minimum wage last spring.
The minimum salary is approved by a government regulation based on the agreement concluded between the two associations.
Employers may not pay employees less than the amount of the minimum wage.
The minimum wage in Estonia this year is 820 euros a month for full-time employees.
