RIGA - The Citizenship and Migration Affairs Office (PMLP) presently will not send the granted residence permit cards to Russia, Belarus and Ukraine as long as these countries are in the high Covid-19 risk area, said PMLP deputy chief Maira Roze.
There are cases when foreigners filed applications for residence permits before the state of emergency. When the PMLP made the decision on granting the residence permit, they were not able to arrive to receive it, said Roze. There have been requests to send the residence permit cards to embassies in the countries where the applicants come from.
"After consultations with the Foreign Ministry, we understand that we can do it only to countries with low Covid-19 risks. Most of the people who asked to send the cards to their country of residence live in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, but these are countries with high Covid-19 risks," said Roze, adding that these people will have to wait for better times.
